About Plotters & Cutters

  • Will the plotter change the size of my pieces?
    No! The plotter is just reading the data that has been created from the CAD system. It doesn't have a mind of its own to change the sizes bigger or smaller.
  • Do you need to have a CAD system to make the plotter work?
    No! The plotter has its own program. Not to make the design but to run the plotter. In this case, the CAD person working on the CAD will send a file by email to the plotter program and the plotter program will read it and print it.
  • What type of ink does it use?
    It uses HP #45 cartridges. They can be purchased at Walmart, Target, Office Max, Office Depot. Ink price $45 - $51 Ink duration is about 6000 yards.
  • How long will the ink last on the plotter?
    The ink will last between 9 -11 rolls of 500 yards rolls that's about 6000 yards.
  • What is the biggest paper roll size that can be used on the plotter?
    From 200-500 yards paper roll will work on our plotter.
  • What type of paper and size can be used on the pattern plotter / Pattern Plotter Cutter 49 inch?
    Plotting only: Plotter paper (Bond paper) Roll. Core size 3-inch core Plotter paper 30LB or 35LB: If you are only going to print (plot) then 30LB or 35LB paper will work. 36 Inches 48 inches 63 Inches Plotting and Cutting Pattern/ Manila / Tag paper 45 Inches 48 inches 60 Inches Pattern/ Manila / Tag Paper 100 WT – 125 WT -150 WT The definition of LB and WT is the basis weight of the paper thickness.
  • What type of paper and size can be used on the  66 inch – 72-inch plotter?
    Plotter paper (Bond paper) Roll. Core size 3-inch core Plotter paper 30 LB or 35 LB: If you are only going to print (plot) then 30LB or 35LB paper will work. Depending on the plotter size and marker size you are going to plot (print only). 48 inches 63 Inches 67 Inches 72 Inches The definition of LB is the basis weight of the paper thickness.
  • What is the speed of the printing?
    If it has One head (one cartridge) the speed is 25 yards to 35 yards per hour. If it has Two heads (Two cartridges) the speed is 50 yards to 65 yards per hour. if it has four heads ( four cartridges) the speed is 75 yards to 100 yards per hour.
  • What CAD programs is the plotter compatible with?
    Gerber AccuMark Optitex PAD system Tukatech Audeces StyleCAD Lectra Mainly all the apparel CAD systems in the market.
  • What files does the plotter print coming from the CAD system?
    PLT, HPGL, HPGL2, and some DXF, DWG, and PDF files.
  • What type of warranty does the plotter come with?
    1 Year on parts and 3 months labor. 1 Year parts means the customer doesn't pay for parts for one whole year if the parts are needed. 3 months labor means the technician can go over to your place and do an onsite service for the customers that are local, Los Angeles and Orange County area only. For out of states customers the technician will be able to assist you via remote access.
